While growing up on my parent's farm we never had a dishwasher, so hand washing
dishes was the norm in our old farmhouse. My brothers and I each had our daily chores
and washing the dishes after family meals was one of mine. I didn't mind it too much,
except on the days where my mom made something extra messy and I would have to
really scrub to get the pots and pans clean. That was not fun.
My sweet mom passed away last week after a short battle with acute leukemia and I
would give anything to see her back at that same kitchen sink, looking out the window
at her beautiful flowers and cows in the field.
some dishes and pans that I prefer to hand wash. Having the right tools and a dish soap
that works well make washing dishes a breeze.
I use the OXO sink mat to protect our sink from chips and scratches. It also provides
a safe landing if a dish slips out of your hand!
new limited edition collection - Urban Metalics! Golden Citrus smells amazing! It's a
zesty blend of lemon, grapefruit and orange and I love it. The packaging is so pretty
and looks nice on the kitchen counter.
I use the OXO dish squeegee to remove leftover food and to push scraps into the garbage
disposal and to squeegee wet countertops and sinks. I like to keep it in the OXO sink organizer
for easy access. Having the right kitchen tools does make washing dishes easier and not
so much of a chore! A turntable helps to keep dish soap, sponges and other cleaners easy
to reach.
Keeping the kitchen clean is so much easier if you do a little bit each day.
Below is my daily kitchen cleaning checklist. I try to keep on top of this each evening
so that mornings are less stressful.
A clean, organized kitchen us such a good day to start the day!
